The purpose of this ACTS mission trip was to partner with Starting Point Church in Burlington, Ontario, CA. Burlington is a subdivision in the Toronto area. We helped the people of Starting Point host a community event over the Victoria Day weekend. The goal for this event was to continue to build relationships with families that live in the area, and bring about an awareness that Starting Point Church is located just a short distance away. We began on Friday by passing out flyers in the community where the event was to be held. Then Saturday afternoon we began to set-up for the event. Take a look at the video’s and pictures below to get a better idea of what took place at the festival.
The festival began with multiple carnival type games to play, “bounce house”, cotton candy, popcorn, and water. It was a free event to the community. As the evening began to set in, the people took their chairs and blankets and found a comfortable place to sit and watch a Walt Disney movie. Mike Hauser, Pastor of Starting Point church, was very pleased with the number of people that attended the festival. There were also many encouraging comments from those that attended.
After a long day on Saturday, we were able to worship together on Sunday morning. Starting Point Church rents space on Sunday morning from Tansley Woods Community Centre, just blocks from where we had our festival the night before. They set up and take down everything needed for their worship experience on a weekly basis. Exciting things are happening at Starting Point. Lives are being changed, people coming to the Lord, and some people are just curious to see what is going on.
We look forward to continuing the partnership with Mike and the people of Starting Point Church. If you would like more information about Starting point, check out their website below.
